Details of Incident:
On 12/19/2005 the Town of Madison Police, the Milwaukee Police Department and the ATF checked the residence of Willis’s address where Glenford Willis was on parole in the 1200 block of S. 17th Street in Milwaukee. During the investigation the ATF recovered a 9mm weapon during the search. The ATF at this time incidentally was working independently on a separate investigation when they found the weapon and subsequently arrested Willis’s roommate for weapon charges. ATF was investigating Willis’s roommate on weapon violations. The 9mm handgun was sent to the State Crime Lab in Milwaukee for ballistic analysis and comparison testing on the 9mm casings recovered by Town of Madison Police at the crime scene on 12/15/2005 in the parking lot of 2705 Pheasant Ridge Trail.
On 12/21/05 Glenford Willis was arrested in the City of Sun Prairie following a traffic stop and was booked in the Dane County Jail on a parole warrant.
During the course of the investigation it was determined the driver was probably the intended target however it was the front passenger of the vehicle whom was shot in the hand.
Eyewitnesses place Willis at the scene at the time of the shooting.
The second male black whom was an associate of Willis and at the time of the shooting is not believed to have fired a gun, is still at large. This individual is described as being a Male Black, approx. 5’10” and 180 lbs, last seen wearing a black hoodie.
The whole incident is precipitated by an altercation, which occurred over a month ago outside of a downtown parking lot in which a fight ensued allegedly involving one of the victims (the 25 year old driver) and Willis. It is believed the shooting was for retaliation of the fight.
The shooting occurred on 12/15/05 when Town of Madison Police responded to 2705 Pheasant Ridge Trail at approximately 9:22 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Upon the Officers arrival all parties fled and the Officers could only locate numerous shell casings in the parking lot of 2705 Pheasant Ridge Trail. Soon thereafter the 21 year old male victim arrives at a local hospital for a “through and through” gunshot wound to his hand.
The victim and the other occupants of the vehicle were shot at while the vehicle was heading out of the parking lot. The victim was seated in the passenger seat of the vehicle while he was shot.
As the vehicle was exiting the apartment complex parking lot Willis allegedly shot at the vehicle while he was on foot. It is believed at least 10 rounds were fired from a handgun.
On 12/27/05 the Town of Madison Police added the following charges to Willis’ jail booking sheet and referred these charge to the Dane County District Attorney’s office.
1) First Degree Intentional Homicide - Attempt
2) First Degree Reckess Injury
3) Reckessly Endangering Safety – 2 counts (one of these charges is for endangering the general public safety of residents in the Southdale community)
4) Felon in possession of a firearm
