DeWerd was arrested by Town of Madison Police Department without incident after stopping a vehicle he was riding in on Hwy PD in the city of Fitchburg.

The Town of Madison Police have developed a suspect and are releasing a photograph of the suspect in the Armed Robbery incident that occurred on December 31, 2005 at 10:39 pm at 2022 Fordem Avenue.

DeWerd and an accomplice entered the Open Pantry at 2022 Fordem Avenue; DeWerd displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk. The clerk was unable to open the cash register; DeWerd and the accomplice beat the clerk and left with an undisclosed amount of money.
The Town of Madison Police Department is looking for DeWerd as a suspect in an Armed Robbery and Substantial Battery. He is considered to be armed and dangerous. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CONTACT DEWARD. Male hispanic, light brown complexion, early 20’s, thin build. Wearing baggy white t-shirt, dark
baseball cap, tattoos on both forearms and light goatee. May be armed with a large black
handgun.
Suspect #2
Male black, 20-30 yrs. of age, thin to medium build, wearing a white
stocking hat and dark blue jacket, orange t-shirt.

49 year old male, numerous head injuries, treated at local hospital.
Store clerk.
Victim #2
61 year old male, minor head injuries, released by EMS at the scene.
Customer.
Both victims are City of Madison
residents.

Incident:
Both suspects entered the Open Pantry located at 2022
Fordem Av. in the Town of Madison, Suspect #1, displayed a large handgun
threatening the victims and demanded that they open the register. Suspect #2 attempted to open the
registers and also demanded money. Both victims were beaten by the suspects
after the registers could not be opened.
Suspects then fled with an undisclosed amount of cash
and merchandise.
