Speed and Aggressive Driving Grant

 

The Town of Madison has received a Speed and Aggressive Driving grant from the WI Bureau of Traffic Safety.  This $12,000 grant will be used for equipment and to add additional traffic enforcement on Town of Madison roadways.  A  $3,000 match from the Town of Madison will add yet additional patrols.  The purpose of the grant is to reduce crashes on Town of Madison highways.  The Town of Madison Police Department will be conducting extensive traffic enforcement on the W. Beltline Hwy and other major roadways.

 

Two concentrated enforcement actions have occurred in March.  On Wednesday April 12, seven Town of Madison officers were involved in a concentrated enforcement effort involving 28 ½ staffing hours.  Officers issued 32 citations, 2 written warnings which included 26 speeding citations, 1 OWI arrest, 1 misdemeanor drug arrest and officers witnessed a felony hit and run crash which resulted in a serious injury to an 18 year old subject.  On Monday April 17 five officers were involved with a total of 42 citations, 6 written warnings and 22 hours of staffing time.

 

The Town of Madison Police Department will be conducting intensive traffic enforcement on the W. Beltline Hwy and other major roadways within the Town of Madison throughout the spring and summer months.
