Incident: Traffic crash reports available on-line

Details of Incident:

Effective Thursday, October 29, 2007, accident reports generated after this date can be retrieved on-line. The Town of Madison has contracted with PoliceReports.US, LLC, to allow citizens and insurers the ability to access accident reports from any computer via the Internet, eliminating the need to travel to the police department or request a report by mail. This new service will provide the public with a convenience and will save the Police Department staff hours previously absorbed by fielding these types of requests. Crash reports obtained from the Internet will be available at no charge.

Accident reports will still be available from the Police Department’s Records Division for the fee of $0.25 per page plus postage if the report is mailed.

The on-line system is user friendly and can be accessed through the following sites. PoliceReports.US, LLC Website: http://townofmadisonwi.policereports.us/; or through the police department’s website http://www.town.madison.wi.us/police/AccidentReports.htm.
