2007 Traffic Grant Enforcement Totals
As a
reminder the Town of Madison Police Department received a Speed and Aggressive
Driving and an Alcohol Enforcement grant from the WI Bureau of Traffic Safety.
During
June 2007 the department conducted a number of concentrated enforcement efforts
on the W. Beltline Hwy among other roadways in the Town of Madison. A total of 66 staffing hours (overtime and
straight time hours) were spent on speed, aggressive driving and alcohol
traffic enforcement. A total of 91
citations and 8 written warnings were issued during these traffic enforcement
events. Citations included 4 safety
belt violations, 72 speeding violations, 1 OWI violation, 7 OAR/OAS violations,
1 vehicle registration violation, and 6 other citations. These totals do not include the Town
of Madison’s involvement with other agencies along the Beltline involved with
the Drive SMART grant.
We ask
that all drivers obey the speed limit, wear their safety belt, do not drive
aggressively and never drink and drive.
The Town of Madison will not notify the public of concentrated
enforcement efforts before they occur, but we will issue releases at the end of
each month notifying the public of the results of the concentrated enforcement
efforts.
If a media outlet representative would like
to attend part or all of one of our concentrated enforcement efforts please
email Chief Scott Gregory at gregorys@town.madison.wi.us.
