Speed and Aggressive Driving Grant

As a reminder the Town of Madison Police Department received a Speed and Aggressive Driving grant from the WI Bureau of Traffic Safety.

During May 2007 the department conducted a number of concentrated enforcement efforts on the W. Beltline Hwy among other roadways in the Town of Madison.  A total of 69.75 staffing hours (overtime and straight time hours) were spent on speed and aggressive driving traffic enforcement.  A total of 86 citations and 5 written warnings were issued during these traffic enforcement events.  Citations included 3 safety belt violations, 1 child restraint violation, 73 speeding violations, 3 OAR/OAS violations, 1 vehicle registration violation, 1 equipment violation and 4 other citations.

We ask that all drivers obey the speed limit, wear their safety belt and do not drive aggressively.  The Town of Madison will not notify the public of concentrated enforcement efforts before they occur, but will issue releases at the end of each month notifying the public of the results of the concentrated enforcement efforts.

If a media outlet representative would like to attend part or all of one of our concentrated enforcement efforts please email Chief Scott Gregory at gregorys@town.madison.wi.us.
